Community spirit shines

Orbost AG Warehouse team member, Helen Hurle, has taken her community passion to the next level to support those living with alopecia.

Not having the chance to get to the hairdresser during the pandemic and other events such as floods and bushfires, Helen decided to grow her hair out and donate it to a worthy cause.

Then while growing out her hair, Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer. Helen went into surgery and treatment ready to face this as she does everything – with “determination and a healthy sense of humour”.

Despite undergoing treatment, Helen hosted a community pizza night where everyone pitched in to plait and chop her hair to donate to the Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation to make a wig for someone living with alopecia.

Helen was proud to give back so that someone living with the lifelong condition of alopecia had the chance to “rock my locks”.

We are very proud of Helen who has shown passion and compassion for helping others and an unwavering commitment to the community.

To support Helen in her wellness journey, we recognised her as one of Saputo’s You Care We Care community program ambassadors. Our program sponsors causes close to our employees and we donated $1,000 across the Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation, the Jane McGrath Foundation and Breast Care Support Fund of East Gippsland. Our best is made of Helen!
