Saputo Kiewa employees unite to make 2,000 sandwiches for hungry kids

Employees at Saputo Dairy Australia’s (SDA) Kiewa site proudly came together on Wednesday to prepare over 2,200 sandwiches for their valued partner, Eat Up. This not-for-profit organisation will distribute the sandwiches to 900 schools across their network, providing essential lunches to children in need, helping them to learn, grow and succeed.

Lyndon Galea, Founder and CEO of Eat Up, expressed his gratitude, "We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Saputo Dairy Australia. Their commitment to helping our cause is a testament to their compassion and community spirit. These sandwiches are more than just meals; they are a lifeline for children who might otherwise go without. Thanks to Saputo's generosity, we can ensure that children have the nourishment they need to focus, learn, and dream big. Together, we are building a brighter future, one sandwich at a time."

Mark Sedgwick, Site Manager at Saputo Dairy Australia’s Kiewa site, says, "We are thrilled to partner with Eat Up for this incredible initiative. Our team is passionate about making a difference in our community, and this event allows us to contribute in a meaningful way. By coming together to make these sandwiches, we are not only supporting children in need while also fostering a spirit of teamwork and generosity among our employees."

Over the past 12 months, SDA has hosted six Big Cook Up events across its sites, involving more than 200 employees who have prepared an impressive 12,455 healthy, nutritious meals for community members who are doing it tough.

Through these cook up events, SDA aims to provide employees with opportunities to give back to the communities where they live and work, create an engaged and healthy workforce and make a positive impact on food security.
